In a throw away world, Ben’s desire is to make unique furniture and timber products that are built to last generations. His preference is for solid timber work with simple, uncluttered details and natural finishes.
Ben began his career as a builder but his interest in furniture making led him to teaching where he spent 15 plus years at NSW high schools helping students understand and appreciate the art of furniture making.
Taking a sabbatical in 2014 from school, Ben immersed himself in a year-long fine furniture making course at the Sturt School for Wood in Mittagong, NSW. This pivotal year helped Ben make the full time move into furniture making and teaching.
To achieve this Ben and his family relocated from Sydney to the Adelaide Hills, where he has established a professional furniture making workshop and teaching studio.
